STEM Roadshow Thrills for KS3

Posted on: 31/10/2019

On a soggy Halloween morning, students from years 7 and 8 spent a lesson experiencing the STEM roadshow from BAE Systems, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force. The theme of the presentation surrounded methods of communication and the technologies to support this. The show was full of exciting technologies such as the capabilities of mobile phones, the hover board, infrared vision goggles and learning the sequence of how mobile phones transmit and receive signals to make a phone call or send information.

Of course, it wouldn't have been Halloween without 'trick or treat' and students were treated to the use of mobile phone programmed and controlled robotic spheres which they got to race around an obstacle course. Some students were even tricked by coming face to face with a 'snake' during the night vision goggles challenge!

All students participated with fantastic enthusiasm and applied their learning to these new examples brilliantly.
