Redruth School Supports the NHS

Posted on: 2020-04-02

Redruth School are proud to help our NHS by delivering 2500 pairs of gloves and 100s of goggles from both our Design Technology and Science departments to Treliske on Monday. The Trelawny wing and ICU were very appreciative in receiving them.

Thank you to all NHS staff for what you are continually doing for us!

As a school, we have also been working to produce visors for use by care professionals. Our dedicated staff have not stopped for Easter, working in school to support key worker children and teaming up to produce these much needed items.

The school are producing 50 visors a day but are now in need of more materials to keep going. We are now working with the Redruth Charity Trust to source further materials. These are:

  • Standard or food grade PVC
  • 1.5 mm high impact polystyrene
  • 3mm x 15mm rivets

If anyone can help with these supplies please email enquiries@redruth.cornwall.sch.uk.

Headteacher, Mr Martin said: “I can’t thank the staff enough for their continued support in helping during this crisis. My aim will be for these essential items to go to the frontline in Redruth's caring community and any help would be greatly appreciated."

Face Visor Manufacturing at Redruth School

On Friday we made our first deliveries of the visors to the 'hot hub' in Redruth; a collaborative operation between Manor and Clinton Road surgeries, based at the Redruth Health Centre which aims to see unwell or possible cases of Covid-19 separately to reduce the chance of spreading infection to patients who need to be seen about other conditions. We have also started distributing to community nurses, pharmacies, Specsavers in Redruth and local care homes.
