Meet our new Youth Councillor!

Posted on: 27/03/2026

Congratulations to Charlie R in Year 7, who recently took part in the Cornwall Youth Council elections, standing as a candidate for his constituency. We’re delighted to share that Charlie won the majority vote and is now the new Youth Councillor for the Redruth and Camborne area, succeeding Bradley O.

Bradley has been our local youth councillor for the past few years and said: “I am so proud to be handing my work within the Youth Council to Charlie. I have no doubt that he has amazing ideas and will continue to empower the voices of young people. Over my term, I have seen such an uptake about youth voice within Cornwall Council, Including the adoption of the UNCRC, the discussion of young people joining the overview and scrutiny committee, who scrutinise any decisions made by the council, and much, much more. I have also succeeded in becoming the youngest person from Cornwall to ever speak in a parliamentary debate through the UK Youth Parliament”.

Charlie is thrilled with his new role and responsibility, stating: “I am very excited to start my journey at Youth Council. I feel honoured to be able to be able to represent my peers and be able to have my voice heard. Thank you to everyone who voted for me and anyone who gave me support to reach my goal. A special thank you to Bradley, for giving me the support and guidance I needed to be elected”. We wish you all the best on your exciting new journey as a Youth Councillor.
