Natural History Museum visit

Posted on: 05/11/2025

Ten lucky Year 9 students won a place at the Critical Minerals Association (UK) and Natural History Museum’s Careers for Next Generation Minerals event in London. The places were kindly sponsored by Cornish Metals Inc. a local mineral exploration company working towards re-opening the South Crofty mine who also hold other mineral rights in Cornwall with potential for discovery of tin, copper, lithium, tungsten, zinc and silver in the future.

The event itself was aimed at students who are interested in STEM (Science, Technology,Engineering and Maths) giving a unique opportunity to hear from real-life scientists, engineers, academic and industry experts about their jobs and how they got started, and how they are working on transforming the UK’s green, industrial and digital economy through the critical minerals sector.

Students also got to explore the incredible exhibitions of Natural History Museum which hosted the event.
