Row-athon challenge for Red Nose Day

Posted on: 25/03/2022

To raise money for Comic Relief, 2 rowing machines were set up in Main Reception. The challenge was a row-athon, to row the distance it takes to travel from Redruth to the Scillies. Both staff and students were encourage to ‘have a go’ and help reach the target distance set, with the house that rowed the most metres over the course of the day, winning. Students cheered them on and sponsored participants throughout the day. Even Mr Martin joined in! Other ways money was raised included wearing red accessories, with a prize for the most creative, and the library ran a successful cake sale and tuck shop. A good effort was received by all.

Our fundraising grand total came to £403.91. The Row-a-thon break down was as follows:
1st place Marconi 16245m
2rd Holman 9140m
3rd Murdoch 9085m
4th Brunel 4525m
Total metres rowed: 38995
Mr Martin achieved 10886m and Mrs Kettlewell 2448m. The days total distance was an impressive 52KM (52329m)!
