James is County Champion

Posted on: 15/06/2021

This weekend, James Tucknott, a Year 9 student, did extremely well in the Cornwall Golf Union Junior Championships which was held at Carlyon Bay Golf Club. Competing against a very strong field which contained all of the best junior golfers from around Cornwall, some whom have senior level experience representing Cornwall and indeed some England Golf Junior squad members, James managed to win the nett elements in both the Under 18’s and the Under 16’s sections which was quite remarkable.

Shooting a nett score of 66 (85 gross/13 over) in the first round followed by an even better nett 62 (81 gross/9 over) in the second round which gave him a total of 128 (15 under par) for two rounds, James took top honours in both age group categories. If you don’t play golf the scoring may seem complicated but the conclusion to the day’s competition is that James Tucknott is now the U18’s and U16’s nett prize County Champion which is fantastic.

We are very proud of James' achievements, and his golfing career is going from strength to strength. Congratulations, James.
