Pastoral

Redruth School prides itself on its level of pastoral care which starts with a robust transition package designed to ensure all students coming into Year 7 are familiar with the school, its staff and routines. We want all our students to be happy, to feel cared for and to understand that if they do have a problem, they have someone in school to turn to.

On transition to Year 7 students are placed in tutor groups, usually with 1 or 2 friends from their primary school – advice on this is sought from the primary school.

They will have a form tutor who they will see each morning for 20 minutes during tutor time. The form tutor is the first point of call for any issues that students or parents may have.

Supporting the form tutors the school has six pastoral heads of year who will deal with pastoral issues in school either on direct requests from students, parents or members of staff. The pastoral team have a great wealth of experience in dealing with student issues whether that is a personal issue, an issue to do with friendships at school or an issue to do with their work.
