Toy Appeal Thanks to our Community

Posted on: 15/12/2020

Dear Redruth,

On behalf of all the students and staff in Redruth School, we’d like to say a massive thank you. You have been bringing in wonderful and unique presents that will be shipped out to children across Cornwall who maybe aren’t as lucky as the rest of us and must spend Christmas in a Children’s Ward in a hospital. Earlier this year, COVID-19 arrived and brought in strict lockdown measures meaning children who must stay in hospital were unable to see their family and friends. This would take a gigantic toll on their mental health, many just wanting to see their mum or dad and give them a hug.

This year’s ‘Toy Appeal’ was incredibly important, as COVID-19 measures were strictly being brought back into place late November, many were unsure if they would even get a Christmas. Imagine, being unable to get out of a hospital bed and being made to stay, so that they can treat and care for you, but then being told that you might not get the Christmas you’ve waited all year to enjoy with your family. Sounds devastating, doesn’t it? Well, this is exactly how those children probably feel but thanks to your incredible and extraordinary presents these children can still enjoy Christmas under these circumstances.

Every student in our school admires the presents we have received and cannot wait to donate these gifts to children across the duchy and see their smiles as they open the presents you have gifted them. By you donating gifts, you’re allowing a child’s Christmas wish to come true. So, for that, we thank you. Your gifts not only mean the world to them but to our community who are also extremely grateful for the support you are giving these disadvantaged children. Thank you. You have truly made their Christmas, and I assure you, they will be over the moon. We hope that you have a festive Christmas and stay safe.

Yours sincerely,

On behalf of Redruth School,

Harvey Jones and Holly Apsey.
